Aniimo

Aniimo is an open-world action RPG where you travel across the continent of Idyll while discovering, capturing, and collecting magical creatures known as Aniimo, in an adventure with a very similar premise to Pokémon. As well as fighting alongside them, you can bond with one of them and transform into it, leveraging its abilities to fight, move around, and discover new exploration possibilities.

Capture, collect, and upgrade your Aniimo

As you explore, you will come across different Aniimo and be able to capture them to add them to your collection and use them throughout the adventure. The creatures can grow stronger and develop their abilities, but you will have to battle with them to increase their power. You will even find special variants called Prismata, which have incredible unique abilities. This means you can dedicate yourself to creature collection and expand your catalog while exploring a beautiful open world.

Transform into your creatures with Twining

Aniimo's main novelty is Twining, a mechanic where you can establish a bond with one of your Aniimos and temporarily transform into that creature. In that form, you can move around the setting, fight, and take advantage of that Aniimo's specific capabilities. This transformation also allows you to observe and explore Idyll from the perspective of the different species.

Choose how you want to approach the adventure

In Aniimo, you do more than capture creatures and battle. You will be immersed in the world of Idyll to take on a number of different activities, from trying to complete the creature log or competing in battles to searching for treasure, tending a garden, or decorating your home. Choosing which activities are most important during your journey through this world is your decision, allowing you to enjoy the game in your own special way.

My thoughts after trying Aniimo

When I first opened the game, I thought the graphics were very nice, I was actually surprised by the quality. The opening tutorial is very simple to complete and that's where you realize how similar it is to Pokémon, but when you discover the transformations, the game takes those mechanics one step further. Because it has so much content and gives you so much freedom, you can enjoy the adventure however you like and dedicate many hours to it.

The best and worst of Aniimo

• What I liked most is the Twining mechanic, since being able to transform into the Aniimo and use their abilities yourself adds a new dimension to both combat and exploration.

• What I liked least is that it might require some time to get used to everything at first.
